Dougherty gang: Sister is singing like a bird

Grace_Dougherty_Flickr_phot
The so-called Dougherty gang -- the three Florida siblings who captivated the country this week as they led law enforcement on a nationwide manhunt -- have been in custody only about 48 hours.

But the sister, Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, an exotic dancer in the Orlando area, has already made statements that suggest she's cozying up to law enforcement. Pasco County Sheriff's officials said they couldn't comment on whether this foreshadows Lee Grace Dougherty's defense strategy -- or if it signals a potential eagerness to turn evidence against her brothers in order to spare herself.
Lee Grace Dougherty, who was shot and injured during her capture by Colorado law enforcement authorities, appears to have taken responsibility for her actions. She allegedly told law enforcement sources that "I pointed my gun at the cop ... I deserved to get shot." She also added that the three "weren't trying to hurt anyone," according to law enforcement reports.
(Lee Grace, by the way, has an active Flickr feed in which she poses in various states of undress, and describes herself thusly: "I am a Floridian. Born and raised in Seminole County. I have a huge crazy family. I'm 28 but act like I'm 17 most of the time. I love to farm and shoot guys and wreck cars. I'm a redneck and proud of it. I like milk and German engineering and causing mayhem with my siblings.")
This much is clear: The three are facing a mountain of serious charges in an alleged three-state crime spree that started in Florida, reportedly included a bank-robbing pit stop in Georgia, and ended with their Wednesday arrest in Colorado. Jurisdictional issues are also being sorted out among federal and state authorities to determine which charges the trio could face first, and in which state.
Even more charges could be on the horizon: As law enforcement officials begin the task of documenting a time line for the purported crime spree, they are keeping a keen eye out for evidence of other crimes that may have been committed and the possibility the siblings might have high-tailed it to Texas for a stretch.

"It's very possible that they committed other crimes along the way," said Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco. That's where the recent trouble apparently began, with shots fired at a police officer there.

The three were in trouble with the law before they went on the lam. Dylan Dougherty, 26, faced a possession of marijuana charge. Lee Grace Dougherty faced five felonies and six misdemeanors, in connection with a May hit-and-run as well as a possible probation violation and alleged aggravated battery. Ryan Dougherty, 21, has 14 felony arrests, including drug-and-weapons charges, a burglar charge, and a lewd and lascivious behavior charge connected with sexting an 11-year-old.

Law enforcement is still in the early stages of piecing it all together as a fascinated public watches, intrigued by the trio dubbed a modern-day "Bonnie & Clyde & Clyde" with survivalist tendencies.
The three apparently had an underground, homemade bunker that they used to house a mini flotilla of ammunitions and also possibly used to "grow drugs." And in Colorado, they were reportedly spotted buying camping gear, suggesting that they planned to evade authorities by heading into the forest for cover.

Other questions: How did they end up with stolen Texas plates on their getaway car? Did they ever make it to Texas? Did they have any help, or were they ever in communication with someone else, and if so, how did they manage it?
"They are street smart criminals. So they might have realized we were on to them, ditched their phones," Nocco said during the news conference.
Lee Grace Dougherty Photos Prior to Scandal, Arrest Leaked Online

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Photos of Lee Grace Dougherty, aka Lee Dougherty, taken before the scandal erupted this week have now been leaked online. One of the Dougherty siblings, Lee Grace Dougherty, is now facing more than just a $1.25 million bail. She is also the subject of sandal pictures taken during her time as a “dancer” just this July. Unlike her arrest this week, Lee is not armed with an assault weapon; she is also not clothed.
Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, Ryan Dougherty, 21, and Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, all currently face $1.25 million bail, each. They have been charged by federal prosecutors and by three state agencies. Their alleged crime spree began in Florida after they allegedly fired twenty rounds of bullets at a cop. Then they robbed a Georgia bank.
But finally, in Walsenburg, outside Denver, Colorado, the siblings’ run ended. As Colorado State troopers pursued the Dougherty siblings, Dylan allegedly fired at troopers with his AK-47 assault rifle.

Yesterday morning's arrest of the Dougherty gang was just as wild as the crime spree that precipitated the trio's cross-country sprint. It involved a car chase, a flipped car and the shooting of Lee Grace Dougherty, the proud redneck and ex-stripper whose skanky bikini photos have become Internet sensations.

As we've reported, Ryan Edward Dougherty isn't exactly a stranger to law enforcement, with a fourteen felony arrests prior to his latest one. Lee had five of her own, including hit and run, and she wasn't exactly apologetic for her behavior. On her Flickr profile (the source of those bikini shots, on view below), she declared that she loved to "shoot guys and wreck cars," not to mention "causing mayhem with my siblings." She called herself "redneck and proud of it." All of this made Dylan a relative angel by comparison -- although not anymore.
Speculation about the trio's latest one-family crime wave centers on Ryan being required to register as a sex offender for sending explicit text messages to an eleven-year-old girl -- which gains in creepiness considering he's about to become a dad. He's been involved in a relationship with a woman who calls herself Allie O'Love on her Facebook page. Her current profile picture features her in a cozy pose with Ryan:

Allie's due to give birth in January, but Ryan might not have been allowed to see the child given his sex-offender status. Not that access will be easy given what happened next. According to the FBI, the Doughertys led a police officer on a chase near Zephryhills, Florida on August 2, firing shots that eventually disabled the vehicle. Then, only hours later, they're thought to have knocked off a bank in Valdosta, Georgia, firing shots at the ceiling with automatic weapons.

Then they hit the road and headed west -- to the Colorado Springs area, where witnesses at an REI store spotted them buying a tent, leading to speculation that they were going to camp out in the mountains until the heat died down. Instead, the subsequent reports brought the situation to a boil. Yesterday just past 9 a.m., according to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, members of the department, as well as troopers with the Colorado State Patrol, received a report about a suspicious vehicle -- namely the white Subaru Impreza the Doughertys had last been seen driving.
Deputies from Pueblo and several neighboring counties quickly responded, and a detective soon spotted the car. The Doughertys apparently noticed, because they high-tailed it south on Interstate 25 toward Walsenburg, leading a pursuit that exceeded 100 miles per hour. The PCSO reports that shots were fired during the chase.

The end came around Mile Marker 52, when the Subaru hit some stop sticks arranged by authorities and flipped over a guardrail. One of the boys was injured in the crash and couldn't flee, while the other was rounded up shortly thereafter. Lee, for her part, tried to escape into a ditch, armed with an automatic weapon. After she ignored orders to drop it, the cops shot her. The wound is described as non-life threatening. Likely charges in Colorado include attempted murder of law-enforcement officers, first-degree assault and loads o' traffic offenses. And that's not to mention the offenses allegedly committed in Florida and Georgia.
The made-for-movies chaos wreaked by the Doughertys in recent days is bringing even more attention to those photos of Lee. Check out a sampling below, featuring sample comments that have accrued in recent days on her Flickr account.

Just days before the Dougherty Gang allegedly robbed a Georgia bank last week -- the lady of the bunch stripped down to her birthday suit for a hardcore photo shoot.

29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty -- a sometime professional exotic dancer -- was approached by some friends who host poker games ... who asked if she would waitress at their events and pose nude for their promotional materials. Lee obliged ... and over the past 6 weeks, she posed for a series of VERY revealing pictures which give the term "photo spread" a whole new meaning.

One person connected to the photo shoots tells us Lee posed for some of the photos as recently as July 29, less than a week before the bank robbery. We're told Dougherty was not paid for the "modeling" work.

Days later, Lee became an overnight celebrity outlaw when she and her two brothers allegedly shot a police officer ... robbed a bank ... and went on the run while in possession of some high-powered firearms. http://a.abcnews.com/images/News/ap_lee_grace_dougherty_sc_110811_wg.jpg

Lee Grace Dougherty reportedly stripped down for photo shoot before alleged crime spree

Lee Grace Dougherty

(CBS) - Before she allegedly robbed a bank with her two brothers, Lee Grace Dougherty reportedly stripped down for a revealing photo shoot.

TMZ reports that the 29-year-old, a professional exotic dancer, was approached by some friends who host poker games who asked if she would waitress at their events and pose nude for their promotional materials.
A source close to the photo shoots reportedly told TMZ that Lee posed for some of the photos as recently as July 29, less than a week before the Georgia bank robbery. According to the source, Dougherty was not paid for the "modeling" work.
Days later, Dougherty became an outlaw after her and her siblings allegedly shot at a Florida police officer and robbed a Georgia bank.
A weeklong nationwide search for the fugitive siblings ended in Colorado when they were spotted in Colorado Springs and caught after crashing their vehicle during a car chase and shooting at cops, according to police.
The three are suspected of firing at least 20 shots at a Florida officer who tried to pull them over for speeding in a chase at speeds up to 100 mph.
Hours later, three people wearing masks robbed a bank in Valdosta, Ga., about 210 miles north. One robber brandished an AK-47 assault rifle while another was photographed by a security camera waving a machine pistol, the FBI said.

The two brothers and sister under arrest in southern Colorado following a nationwide manhunt that ended with a chase, crash and shooting on I-25 earlier this week face a court appearance Friday.
Lee Grace Dougherty, Dylan Dougherty Stanley and Ryan Dougherty all face advisement in Walsenburg court on charges including first degree attempted murder of a police officer.
They're accused of firing a weapon at the Walsenburg police chief Wednesday just prior to their arrests.
The action was dramatic during the moments of the Dougherty gang's apprehension. Conversations between witnesses and 911 dispatchers prove that.Dougherty Crash Scene & Mug Shots

Judge tells Dougherty gang more charges could be coming

A judge on Friday advised three Florida siblings accused in a sensational multi-state crime spree that they could face attempted murder charges in a second Colorado county for firing on police during a high-speed chase, court documents show.

Huerfano District Court Judge Claude Appel ruled that there was enough evidence to hold Ryan and Lee Grace Dougherty and Dylan Dougherty Stanley on suspicion of attempted murder and first-degree assault "pending the filing of criminal charges."
The two brothers and their sister were advised of the possible charges Friday via a video hook-up from the jail in neighboring Pueblo County where they are being held on $1.25 million bond each.
Friday's action mirrors the attempted murder and first-degree assault on a peace officer charges prosecutors in Pueblo, Colorado, said on Thursday they are contemplating against the Doughertys there.
The siblings were wanted for allegedly shooting at a Florida police officer and robbing a Georgia bank when they fled the Southeast, and became the target of a nationwide manhunt that captured the attention of much of the country.
The trio was arrested on Wednesday in southern Colorado after a high-speed chase and shootout with police from multiple law enforcement agencies.
An arrest warrant affidavit filed in the latest case said a pursuing police officer heard "the distinct sound of gun fire" and saw one of the suspects firing out the right side of a speeding Subaru Impreza.
Investigators said they believe Ryan Dougherty was driving the car while Dylan Dougherty Stanley fired at pursuing officers with an AK-47.
The three fugitives were captured when their vehicle crashed while trying to avoid stop strips deployed on the highway, police said.
Dylan Dougherty Stanley was arrested inside the wrecked car and Lee Grace and Ryan Dougherty were apprehended following a foot chase, police said.
Lee Grace Dougherty was shot and wounded by a police officer after she leveled a weapon at him. The former topless dancer admitted that she "pointed a gun at the cop," according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Appel also issued a gag order prohibiting any attorneys, police or others involved in the investigation from making "extrajudicial" statements about the caselee grace doughertylee grace doughertylee grace dougherty

TMZ Uncovers Scandalous Lee Grace Dougherty Photos Taken Prior To Georgia Bank Robbery

The 'Dougherty Gang,' a trio of siblings who shot at and fled police in Florida, robbed a bank in Georgia, and evaded law enforcement for a week before coming to a much-publicized end in Colorado, are finally behind bars.
Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, and Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21, made their first court appearance in Pueblo, Colorado, on Thursday. Each are being held on a $1.25 million bond.
As media attention around the trio ballooned, the spotlight has fallen most directly on Lee Grace. The sister's rumored previous occupation as an exotic dancer is substantiated by widely available photos from her flickr account.
“I'm 28 but act like I'm 17 most of the time,” she writes on her flickr page, “I like milk and German engineering and causing mayhem with my siblings.”
On Friday, entertainment news site TMZ unearthed what they've labeled a ' prior to the bank robbery.
According to TMZ, Grace initially posed in the pictures to promote a poker game hosted by friends. We've excerpted two of the tamer ones below -- the racier pictures are at TMZ (with nudity blacked out).
